44 Years of Roe: We Won’t Go Back
NARAL, the pro-choice agency, released a video about the danger of Roe v. Wade being abolished or changed. According to the video, President Trump and his pro-life congressmen are a threat to everything Roe v. Wade stands for. They are doing everything they can to attack women’s health care whenever they can. They are worried that Trump may appoint anti-choice supreme court justices who will affect abortion making it illegal or impossible to access safely. But NARAL will not stop trying to fight for women’s right to have a choice. NARAL is trying to spread news of their cause to get more support for pro-choice.
This article focuses on the issue of Roe v. Wade and the current political leaders. They address the possibility of the bill being repealed or manipulated to take away a woman’s right to affordable health care and her own body. President Trump was the main antagonist? of the current abortion laws and the one responsible for the worry of pro-choice advocates of the possible abolishment of those laws.
Orrin Hatch
Senator Orrin Hatch is a pro-life senior senator from Utah. He does not see the restriction of abortion as evil because he supports the idea that unborn babies are humans and “everyone has the right to life.” He believes abortion is wrong based on what it is, not why it happens. “Abortion is the killing of living human beings.”
The ban on abortion may be restrictive of women’s rights from NARAL’s view, but based on Hatch’s statements, abortion infringes upon the human rights of the baby. His address adopts the idea that unborn children have the inalienable human rights which includes the right to live. This directly conflicts the principles of the pro-choice supporters who believe women should have the choice to have or not to have an abortion. Some abortion laws have limits of when abortion is no longer an option, or when the fetus is considered “living.” This gives the notion that they only allow abortions of the “unliving” unborn child. Hatch says that every unborn child is “living” and deserves a chance at life.
